Last Post - Shutting down.....

Short and sweet. This will be the last my last post as I am shutting this Blog down. Not enough time in the day, week of month to maintain this anymore.

Things have been well and the training is going great.

Thanks for reading over the last couple of years and see ya out on the road.

Lion in the Bear's den

It was decided mid morning on Sat to head to Grimes for the 6th installment of the roller race series. This would be my fourth race, missing the first two. Amy and I headed out in the very windy and treacherous conditions on highway 20. Near white out conditions until we got past Iowas Falls.

Arrived in Grimes and found the Community Center and unloaded, signed up, and started to warm up. I got there a little later than i wanted so I was second to last.

Let me tell ya nothing like being out of place. I think I counted 8 other racers from other teams out of the 24 racers. Everyone else was from DMOS. By the way the place we raced in was their own private training room in the Community Center. This was all painted up in the Team colors so it was little intimidating.

When I arrived I saw Bill Allen getting ready to start his race. By the way he did really well, 6:23. He has been training out behind the barn, look out! Ya, he placed in the 40+ too.

Connie Inks raced as well and placed first in the Women's, something like a 6:13. FAST!

After and hour of warming up I was up for my race. I had decided to see what I had in the legs and wanted to pull of a 6:20. I started out really well and was well under the 6:20, like a 6:06 but slowly faded away to finish with a 6:19.9. Not to shabby, shaving of 25 seconds from the Ames race a couple of weeks ago. Must be the PLAN from the Coach. This time was good enough to take 1st place in the 4's.

Spent Sat night with the Family in Boone to celebrate a Birthday, mine. Yep, I gained another year so that puts me somewhere around 34.

Me & my Nephew celebrating our B-days. He turns 9 on the 23.

See all of ya next week at the Frostbuster. Hoping for 6 flat. Who knows?

Crazy - Loco......

That's what I must be. Yes, I will be doing another Leadville race as I got the official word today via the confirmation post card. This will be my 6 start and 5 attempt at finishing.

The only way I am going to shake this thing it hit 9 hrs or less this year. That's my goal:

"9 in '09"
So keep an eye on the counter above - just 183 days to go. Hardly enough time to get ready.
Been awhile since my last posting. So just finishing week two of the Coaches plan and it's kicking my ass. Love it. Doing a few roller races. Not pulling the best of times but getting me in the placing. What happened to all the Cat 4 racers? Lots of good Cat 5's out there pulling some good times.

Pour it on....

Today was the first day of the new training plan. After meeting up with Mike of Rocket Science Coaching yesterday he prescribed a long ride for Sat. Yep, as nice as it was outside I opted for riding inside on the rollers. The plan - 2 1/2 hrs of tempo riding. Let me say this is easier to say than do. Boy do I hurt but it's a good hurt.

The only dilemma I has was what will I watch to pass the time. I found a great site with lots of Cycling videos. universalsports.com has lots of the odds sports and has tons of streaming videos. So I watched the World Cup Road Race. Hell, they have all the stages of Tour of Missouri.

Time to rest up and get ready for the ball busting ride on Mon. All I heard from the Mike was get ready for the intervals.

Later.

Cycling Gods....

Well, yesterday was a great day for me in several ways. I took the day off to meet up with the Coach to do some threshold & VO2 testing. All I can say is WOW! The final results are not in but everything looks good and lined up well with what I has set earlier in the year.

This new endeavour for me has me super excited and will get me to my 2009 goals.

On the way to Ames I got a call from the shop telling me that my replacement Superfly frame was in. Brent worked with Tyler over at SPOKEN WHEEL CYCLERY in Iowa Falls. So on my way home I picked up the '09 Frame.

Once I dropped of the frame I picked up my new Schwalbe Studded tires that Brent ordered for me. Got get them mounted, heck who knows if I may need them after today's temps.
